暑假出游要边玩边学？家长：孩子的想法最重要

大中小学生每年盼望的暑假已接近尾声。这个暑假旅游市场可足够热闹，有家长“躺平带娃”纯休闲度假的，也有趁暑期两个月游历名校博物馆、卷学习经验的……这不，暑假到底是要玩得好，学得好，还是边学边玩样样都好？让不少家长纠结了。

Educational tours and leisure vacations were closely matched in winning the hearts of Chinese families this summer, which coincides with a two-month-long holiday for students and almost draws a close recently.

同程旅行的数据显示，早在7月上旬，该平台上的暑期研学旅行产品预订同比增幅就已翻倍。

相比研学旅游，家长对度假休闲游的热情也丝毫不减。途牛最新数据显示，今年暑期，海口、厦门、青岛、威海等休闲度假目的地预订热度增幅显著，其中海口7月预订出游人次较去年同期增长127%。能躺平遛娃的酒店也很受家长欢迎。去哪儿平台的数据显示，配置有水上乐园或临近水上乐园的酒店，在今年暑假预订量涨幅显著，平均增长三成。

Figures from travel portal Ly.com show that as of early July, educational tour bookings doubled year-on-year on the platform.

Leisure vacation destinations and amusement parks have also attracted remarkable interest. According to online travel agency Tuniu, destinations like Haikou in the southern province of Hainan, Xiamen in Fujian and Qingdao and Weihai in Shandong have all registered impressive growth in July on its platform, with Haikou city seeing tourist numbers surge 127 percent year-on-year in the month.

Qunar, also a travel portal, said its online bookings for leisure getaways like hotels with water parks on-site or nearby have increased 30 percent on average since the start of the summer holiday.

家住北京的王祐丽说自己曾经也是“暑期卷王”，给女儿报各种研学旅行夏令营，去名校、博物馆参观学习。不过今年她“想开了”，7月带了女儿去新疆放松心情。

"My daughter's personal wish is now the most important — whether it's taking a pure leisure trip or joining an educational tour with opportunities to explore top universities," said Wang Youli, 38, a resident of Beijing who took her 10-year-old daughter to visit Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in July.

She said she used to be torn between the two tourism options that are poles apart as she had wanted her daughter not to waste a minute of her summer holiday — usually July to August — and grab some useful knowledge rather than just indulge in idle recreation.

“去年开始就想转变自己的教育理念了。因为我女儿跟我抱怨说她假期过得很累，研学的时候也很有压力。她年龄还小，所以我想她暑假愿意玩就玩吧，没什么大不了的。我自己对‘玩’和‘旅游’的想法也在慢慢改变。”王祐丽说，自己放下对研学的执念还有个很重要的原因，就是研学夏令营比普通休闲度假游价格高出不少。

“既然我女儿觉得研学很累，也有点抵触，不如就让她尽情玩。对现在的我来说，她的想法是第一位的，暑期不管是研学还是休闲度假，我都支持她。”

"But I've changed my mind since last year as my daughter complained that she wished to take a break from her studies; the very thought of acquiring knowledge during an outing made her stressful. She is still a little girl, so just having fun during summer time without learning any knowledge is no big deal," Wang said. She added that since educational tours usually cost more than leisure trips, the loss may outweigh the advantages if her daughter shows an aversion to an educational tour after booking it.

途牛副总裁齐春光对记者表示，热衷研学旅行的家长希望孩子在旅途中有一些知识的延展或启蒙，参与一些体验型项目，而不是走马观花。“我们平台上的热门研学游产品中，传统文化、自然科学、超级工程等主题的产品备受亲子家庭的青睐。今年，自然与科技类研学项目受关注度提高，可见越来越多的家长都更加注重培养孩子对前沿科技知识的认知。”

此外，他也注意到，由于美国签证受限和东南亚一些国家的安全问题，今年出境游学热度有所降低，涉及青少年“单飞”的研学游预订也相应减少。

Qi Chunguang, vice-president of Tuniu, observed that many parents hope that their children gain some knowledge or are inspired by educational tours. They want them to get involved in experience events rather than get a cursory glimpse of the destination. He said the company's educational tours are mainly targeted at children in primary and middle schools, and that parents prefer those focused on Chinese traditional culture, nature, science, and megastructures.

他表示，选择休闲度假类出游的亲子家庭，对旅游的期待更多是将时间和精力用在享受旅行和游玩体验上，出游目的更多是放松身心，因此会更注重出游的便捷性和舒适度。“家长会尽量避开红眼航班，把行程节奏尽量放慢。”

"For families seeking pure leisure vacations, the parents usually attach more importance to the traveling experience, relaxation and convenience during the trip. They may avoid red-eye flights for more comfortable and less hectic schedules," he said, adding that he has also noticed educational tours to overseas destinations show a muted growth this summer, which he attributes to safety concerns in some Southeast Asian countries and visa challenges in the United States.

家住四川成都的王女士对记者说，每年暑期都会尽自己所能地让孩子出去旅行，去年6月她安排了儿子去香港研学，今年7月则是一家老小飞去希腊度假。

Zhu Kezhao, 16, a resident of Chengdu in the southwestern province of Sichuan, went on an educational tour to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in June last year and a leisure family trip to Greece in July this year.

His mother, surnamed Wang, said these trips helped Zhu improve his English speaking skills besides strengthening family relations. "We've always had the idea of trying our best to let the kids see the outer world — be it an educational tour or a trip just for leisure," said the 44-year-old.

劲旅网总裁魏长仁在接受记者采访时表示，家长对于研学和休闲度假旅游产品的不同选择反映出公众不断分化的旅行需求和偏好。

“中国有句老话，‘读万卷书不如行万里路’，家长们其实也是在用不同的方式让自己的孩子拓展视野，增长见识。这种分化的旅行观念和偏好，其实很考验旅行产品供给商的能力，需要他们不断丰富自己的服务来让家长和孩子都能选到自己心仪的旅行产品。”

Wei Changren, founder of btiii.com, a tourism-related financial news website, said that the rising demand for two different tourism products — educational and leisure tours — shows parents' increasingly diversified traveling preferences with their children in recent years.

"Both traveling ways show parents' wish to let the kids broaden their horizons and gain fresh understanding of the world. Just like the old saying that 'It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books'," he said, adding that travel agencies can keep enhancing their products to meet the needs of adults and children alike.
